A 53-year-old man appeared at Norwich Crown Court today and admitted two offences of theft from two different parochial church councils involving a total of over £70,000.
Derek Klein, of Dairy Farm, The Street, Ridlington, near North Walsham, admitted theft of £57,000 between January 1, 1984 and January 1, 2007.
He also admitted the theft of £13,000 from Ridlington Parochial Council between January 1, 1993, and January 1, 2007.
He also admitted attempting to pervert the course of justice on January 15, 2007.
Klein was bailed to await a pre-sentence report and is due to be sentenced on August 10.
Judge Peter Jacobs told him: “If the money is returned it counts in these courts. A lot of ordinary people put their money into these organisations.”
